There are many differenct carbon calculators available today. Each one is designed to provide you with a rough estimate of how much carbon dioxide you emit through your daily activities. They vary in their level of detail, what information they ask you, how they calculate your emissions, as well as in the results they give you. We have listed several below for you to try out.
- Low Carbon Diet Calculator A simple and easy method that uses your garbage production, electricity and natural gas consumption, and car and airplane miles travelled to calculate your emissions.
- Earth Lab Calculator A more comprehensive calculator based on energy usage, miles travelled, lifestyle and work choices. Includes many tips on how to reduce your emissions.

Cool Climate Calculator Calculates your carbon footprint from everything your household consumes.
Obtain Your PG&E Electricity and Natural Gas Usage History (This information will enable you to calculate your current emissions.)
By Internet:
- Go to the PG&E website: http://www.pge.com/index.html
- Click on “For My Home”
- Login in to the site. (If you have not done this before, you will have to sign up first using your PG&E account number.)
- In the left-hand navigation menu go to My Account > Usage > Usage History
It's got 2 years of past data, both quantity usage and amount paid, and you can download it into Excel.
